Key Responsibilities

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Tesla, you will:

  • Design, build, and maintain large-scale systems and applications, ensuring high reliability, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Optimize system performance by focusing on CPU thread management, memory optimization, and kernel tuning.
  • Develop and implement scalable DNS architectures using protocols like DNSSEC, DHCP, and BIND.
  • Configure and manage TCP/L7 proxy technologies such as NGINX, HAProxy, and Squid for efficient traffic management.
  • Utilize configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to automate DNS and proxy configurations.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Telegraf, and Splunk.
  • Work with containerization technologies like Kubernetes to deploy and manage applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve critical issues across multiple layers, including CDN, load balancers, storage, OS, network, K8S, virtualization, and application/DB stack.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and GitHub CI/CD.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement efficient and scalable systems.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical systems.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role at Tesla, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Proven experience in system reliability, performance optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Linux fundamentals, including performance optimizations and kernel tuning.
    • Deep understanding of DNS and TCP/L7 proxy technologies.
    • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies like Kubernetes.
    • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages such as Python, Shell, and Golang.
    • Experience with CI/CD pipeline tools and monitoring systems.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and collaboration skills.
